Among the many national and international subjects seen in Aberhart's work, Taranaki has been a frequent focus of his photography. Sometimes described as solemn, these black and white images of churches, Masonic lodges, whare, monuments and memorials are records of places, lives and activities. Produced from large format negatives and a Korona view camera, these photographs are an exercise in memory and time.
