This writing is Autoethnographic and will be presented as a quilted pastiche of
interlinking stories that have enabled me to make sense of the altered landscape,
which is now my life. This landscape now inhabited, occurred because my husband
Gary died. He was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer in May
2010 and died three years later. The illness was brutal and life altering from the onset
involving multiple surgeries, chemotherapies, radiation, hospital and hospice care.
Through out this time I cared for him, our children plus many others dealing with
their own grief and impending loss.
